Baroness Hayman has been named ‘Peer of the Year’ for her leadership in bringing parliamentarians together on climate and nature issues and collected the award last night from the Rt Hon Chris Skidmore MP in parliament.

In her acceptance speech she spoke about the extraordinary amount of parliamentary work that has been undertaken this year to encourage progress in sectors critical to meeting climate and nature goals, and how this success has been realised through effective cross-party working and collaborating closely with the Commons to drive legislative change.

“The UK’s contribution in responding to the climate crisis will be measured not just in the quantity of emissions we reduce, but in the quality of the vision, innovation and leadership we provide."
