Yesterday, a number of P4P Peers joined 50 cross-party parliamentarians in writing to the Prime Minister to call for leadership at home and internationally to increase efforts to address the climate crisis.

The letter outlines a number of actions that will help the UK to regain its international leadership, including ending the licensing of new oil and gas fields, appointing a climate envoy ahead of COP29, and releasing an ambitious UK National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan ahead of CBD COP16 taking place in Colombia in October.

You can read the letter to the Prime Minister below or read the coverage in the Guardian here.

“The UK’s contribution in responding to the climate crisis will be measured not just in the quantity of emissions we reduce, but in the quality of the vision, innovation and leadership we provide."
