Government urged to bring forward forest risk commodities legislation

A cross-party group of Peers and MPs have urged the government to bring forward forest risk commodities legislation to reduce the contribution UK supply chains make to illegal deforestation.  

 

In December, the Government set out its proposals for delivering on its Environment Act 2021 commitment to establish a regime to require forest-based commodities to be certified as ‘sustainable’ if they are to be sold into UK markets, but no new regime has yet been implemented.
