This week a Peers for the Planet supporter asked the Government at Oral Questions what the improvement in air quality and emissions had been since the Covid-19 restrictions were introduced. During the 10 minute question slot, other P4P supporters asked supplementary questions to the Minister, Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park, on how we are going to ensure recent improvements to air quality become permanent, the importance of having a green recovery and how we can build back better.

The Minister committed the Government to investing in a green recovery saying “We do not believe that there is a choice between economic recovery and tackling climate change … the choice between economic recovery and environmental action is a false one.”

“The UK’s contribution in responding to the climate crisis will be measured not just in the quantity of emissions we reduce, but in the quality of the vision, innovation and leadership we provide."
