The Health and Care Bill is currently going through its Committee Stage in the House of Lords and Peers have tabled a number of cross-party amendments which seek to embed consideration of the UK’s climate change and environmental goals into the Bill and also to ensure that NHS procurement regulations include provisions which will support action to meet our net zero targets.
Peers were supported by the health care sector with the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, which represents more than 900,000 health care professionals, writing to the Secretary of State. Peers have been meeting with Ministers to discuss the amendments ahead of Report Stage of the Bill.
The Committee Stage debates continue over the next week with Report Stage starting on the 28 February.
